I read an article by Bill Price in the NY Daily news advocating for the Mets to go after Manny Ramirez. We all know the positives that Manny could bring to the Mets; prolific hitter, actually, an all-time great at the plate with a penchant for getting it done on the big stage.
Now, the negatives;
1) Manny will cost....he is looking for a 5 year deal in the neighborhood of $110 Million
2) Manny is getting up there in age---he would be 41 at the end of his contract
3) Manny is a liability in the outfield
4) Manny doesn't play when Manny doesn't feel like playing---is that really the kind of attitude you want in the Mets clubhouse?
5) Manny is not a relief pitcher-----and the Mets first, second, third and fourth needs are for relief pitching!
As you can tell, I am not in favor of signing Manny. Please Mets, focus on the repair of your league worst bullpen!
Just one man's opinion...
